1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using DUA — Spiritual Companion ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the app.
2. Description of Service
DUA is a free Islamic companion application, presented in Azerbaijani, that provides:
- Daily prayer times calculated from your device's location
- Prayer notifications with a choice of bundled azans and tones
- A weekly and monthly prayer timetable, exportable as a PDF
- A live Qibla compass showing direction and distance to Mecca
- The full Quran in Arabic with Azerbaijani translation and audio recitation
- An AI assistant for religious questions
- An Islamic calendar with Hijri dates and holidays
- Personal progress features — XP, daily streaks and knowledge quizzes
The app does NOT:
- ❌ Require an account or registration
- ❌ Collect, sell or share personal data
- ❌ Issue religious rulings or fatwas
- ❌ Replace a qualified scholar or your local religious authority
- ❌ Show advertising
3. Religious Content and Accuracy
Important: DUA is a reference and reminder tool. It is not a religious authority, and nothing in it constitutes a fatwa or an authoritative ruling.
We have taken care with the app's religious content, including a QMİ (Qafqaz Müsəlmanları İdarəsi) calculation setting checked against the official Azerbaijani tables. Even so:
- Scholarly opinion differs on several matters the app must pick a default for, including the Asr calculation and the treatment of high latitudes.
- Where a question matters to you, follow your own madhab and your local religious authority rather than the app's default.
- If you believe any content in the app is incorrect, please tell us and we will review it.
4. Prayer Times and Qibla Direction
Do not rely on the app alone for a time-critical religious obligation.
Prayer times are astronomical calculations, not observations. Their accuracy depends on:
- The accuracy of the location your device reports
- The calculation method and madhab you have selected — 16 methods are available and they do not agree with one another
- Your device's clock and time zone being correct
- Local conventions, which may differ from any calculated result
The Qibla compass depends on your device's magnetometer. It can be affected by:
- Nearby metal, magnets, cases and electronics
- A compass that has not been calibrated
- Hardware limitations of the device itself
Verify prayer times against your local mosque or religious authority, and confirm the Qibla by an independent means where accuracy matters.
5. The DUA AI Assistant
The assistant is a language model. It can be wrong, and it does not speak for any religious authority.
The assistant generates answers using a third-party model operated by OpenAI, reached through a server we run. By using it you accept that:
- Its answers are informational only, and are not fatwas, rulings, or religious, legal, medical or financial advice.
- It can produce answers that are incomplete, outdated or simply incorrect.
- Important questions should be taken to a qualified scholar, not to the app.
- The text of your messages is sent to our server and forwarded to OpenAI in order to generate a reply. See the Privacy Policy for what is and is not retained.
- A daily message limit applies per device, and the feature may be paused, limited or withdrawn at any time.
You agree not to use the assistant to generate unlawful, abusive, hateful or deliberately misleading content, and not to present its output as an authoritative religious ruling.
6. Quran Content and Third-Party Sources
- Quran text, translation and audio recitation are supplied by alquran.cloud and cdn.islamic.network, and are subject to those services' own terms and availability.
- We do not control those services. Content may change, and features that depend on them may be unavailable when they are.
- Recitation audio remains the property of its reciter and publisher.
- If you find an error in the text or translation, tell us and we will raise it with the source.
7. Price and Availability
- DUA is free to download and free to use. There are no in-app purchases and no subscriptions.
- No account is required, and none can be created.
- Features that depend on the internet — the Quran, the assistant — need a connection. Prayer times, the Qibla and the calendar work offline once your location is known.
- We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the app at any time.
8. Age
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children, and its content is suitable for all ages. If a child in your care uses the AI assistant, we recommend you supervise that use, as with any conversational service.
